Reson8, an Amsterdam-based speech AI startup founded in 2023, raised a €5M pre-seed round led by Balderton Capital to build hyper-customised automatic speech recognition across 20+ European languages. With founders who previously delivered large-scale medical transcription platforms, Reson8 targets domain-specific jargon where US-centric speech platforms like Whisper underperform. As EU data sovereignty becomes a strategic imperative under the AI Act, this Europe-native infrastructure signals a critical shift toward regional AI independence.
