Updates the player map for the AI-driven drug discovery sub-segment with a new Bengaluru-based entrant, though the $7.7M round falls below the cross.§D threshold.
Bengaluru-based Peptris has secured $7.7M in Series A funding to scale its AI-powered drug discovery platform, pepAI, which can reduce preclinical development from 5 years to 1.5 years and cut costs from $700M to $400,000. The funding will advance their pipeline including drug repurposing programs targeting rare diseases - a space with over 7,000 conditions lacking approved treatments. This positions India as a serious player in AI-driven pharmaceutical innovation, with Peptris already licensing India's first AI-discovered drug candidate (PEPR124) for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The company plans US and Europe expansion within 24 months.
