D-Robotics closes $400M Series C for Sunrise chips and robot developer stack
China's D-Robotics raised $400 million in Series C funding to expand its Sunrise robotics computing chips and software platform for AI-powered robots, including humanoids. The round included a strategic investment from an unnamed global internet company, plus institutional investors and follow-on capital from existing shareholders. That comes after an April Series B that brought Series B funding to $270 million. The company said first-half 2026 revenue rose several times year over year, cumulative Sunrise chip shipments surpassed 8 million units, its embodied AI business entered mass production, and its hardware-software stack completed large-scale validation.
The money is aimed at the compute layer under China's embodied-AI build-out rather than a single robot brand. Sunrise S600, launched in November 2025 for embodied AI, has been adopted by more than 20 customers within six months, among them TARS, Spirit AI, X Square Robot, Ubtech, PaXini Tech, Astribot, Fourier, and Booster Robotics. Deployments span humanoid robots, industrial wheeled robots, flexible manufacturing, embodied foundation models, and multimodal perception, with D-Robotics saying most of those customers have already moved into mass production. Its Gravity Program has supported more than 500 robotics developers across categories from open-source humanoids to home companions, while more than 500 universities and 100,000 developers in over 20 countries have built on the platform. Shared robotics silicon plus a developer program is how a China chip vendor tries to lock in the next wave of humanoid and industrial designs.
For builders and investors, Sunrise-class SoCs and the accompanying toolchain look like a default procurement path for Chinese humanoid and industrial robot programs already shipping at volume. Watch whether the unnamed internet strategic backer opens distribution or cloud-adjacent channels, and whether the planned Sunrise portfolio expansion across compute tiers tightens unit economics for mass-produced embodied systems.
