GenBio AI, a Palo Alto-based AI company co-founded by Nobel laureate David Baker, has released AIDO Cell, a virtual cell system that simulates a human cell from DNA and RNA through protein behavior to the whole-cell level. The system can predict how a cell reacts when a gene is knocked out or a drug is introduced, according to the company. GenBio AI was co-founded in 2024 by Baker, who shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for computational protein design, alongside researchers from Carnegie Mellon University, Stanford, Harvard, and Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. The company operates satellite labs in Paris and Abu Dhabi.
