Indian wearable startup Ultrahuman closed a $70 million funding round on September 3, 2026, with participation from Qualcomm Ventures, US diagnostics firm Labcorp, Alpha Wave, Blume Ventures, and Nexus Venture Partners. The company said the capital will go toward upgrading the on-device compute power behind its AI-driven health-tracking ring, which processes biometric signals directly on the device rather than relying solely on cloud processing.
The round pairs a chipmaker's venture arm with a clinical-diagnostics company, a combination that points to two distinct interests converging on consumer health wearables: a silicon vendor seeking reference designs and distribution for on-device AI inference, and a diagnostics firm seeking a foothold in continuous, at-home biometric data that could eventually feed clinical workflows. Per the AI Market Watch index, Ultrahuman had already raised more than $60 million (₹472 Cr) prior to this round, tracked among roughly 5,000 companies the index covers as a sample, not a census. The Labcorp participation extends the smart-ring category beyond fitness tracking toward a more clinically adjacent data pipeline, a direction other ring makers have also pursued through partnerships and regulatory clearances.
For builders, the round is a signal that on-device inference, not just cloud AI, is becoming a differentiator in consumer health hardware, cutting latency and keeping sensitive biometric data local.
