Integral Raises €18M Series A for AI-Native Accounting Services
Berlin-based Integral has raised €18 million in a Series A co-led by Mosaic Ventures and Reid Hoffman, with Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst, and Puzzle Ventures participating. The 2024-founded company says the round brings total funding above €30 million and will support hiring in AI engineering, licensed professional services, and commercial roles. Integral combines AI agents with its affiliated licensed German audit and tax firm to provide bookkeeping, tax, and payroll services directly to small and medium-sized businesses.
The company is testing a more consequential model than accounting-software automation: an AI-enabled professional-services firm in which agents complete repetitive workflow steps while licensed experts review and sign the resulting work. Integral says its agents now prepare bookkeeping end-to-end for more than half of clients, cutting average monthly turnaround from weeks to hours, while its professionals have doubled the number of clients they serve since the start of the year. The model targets a German market constrained by a shrinking supply of qualified accounting and tax professionals, where regulatory accountability limits fully autonomous service delivery.
For builders, the important lesson is that automation depth and expert review must be designed together in regulated workflows; software adoption alone does not substitute for authority to file taxes, run payroll, or sign annual accounts. For investors, Integral's traction will depend on whether its feedback loop from professional review can improve automation while retaining quality, compliance, and unit economics as client volumes grow.
