Vancouver-based AiDANT Intelligent Technology has signed Tokyo systems integrator Jasmine System as its first official Japanese distribution (VAR) partner, launching domestic sales in August 2026 of AiDANT Care and AiDANT Markers. Both run as edge AI applications installed directly on compatible Axis network cameras rather than streaming footage to the cloud. AiDANT Care detects falls and bed-exit events in real time, pushes a smartphone alert within seconds, and AiDANT says it cuts average on-site response time to roughly three minutes; it also includes infrared night mode for low-light monitoring. AiDANT Markers reads ArUco markers for equipment tracking. The fall-detection product qualifies under Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare productivity-improvement reimbursement scheme for eldercare facilities. Jasmine System will handle requirements definition, network design, installation, and maintenance rather than just reselling licenses.
The deal targets a specific structural pain point in Japanese eldercare: chronic nursing and caregiver shortages are pushing operators away from bed-pressure sensors and mats, which generate false positives from ordinary movement and lose coverage when batteries die or a resident moves outside the bed zone. Running inference on the camera itself, instead of piping video to an external cloud, sidesteps the data-handling friction that typically slows AI adoption in regulated care and hospital settings, while multi-site status can still be centralized for facility operators managing several locations. For AiDANT, going to market through an integrator that already owns hospital and care-facility procurement relationships is a low-cost entry strategy into Japan's fragmented healthcare IT channel, rather than building a direct sales organization from Vancouver.
For builders, the takeaway is that on-device inference remains the practical unlock for camera-based healthcare and eldercare monitoring, where cloud video transfer is a compliance and latency liability, not just an engineering preference. For investors evaluating vertical AI in Japan's care sector, the reimbursement-eligible categorization is the more important signal than the technology itself: it converts a monitoring product into a funded capital purchase for cash-constrained operators, and other foreign edge AI vendors targeting Japanese healthcare will likely need the same MHLW qualification plus a systems-integrator partner to reach this buyer.
