The $550 million round at an $8.8 billion valuation incrementally updates an established legal AI competitor and raises the capital stakes across the segment without resolving questions about durable differentiation.
Legora raises $550 million to expand legal AI and develop its agent operating system
Sweden-based Legora announced a $550 million Series E led by Atreides Management at an $8.8 billion post-money valuation. The company said the funding will support expansion across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific and improvements to Legora aOS, its agent operating system. New investors include Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and JPMorgan. Legora says more than 2,400 law firms and corporate legal teams use its products, with annual recurring revenue exceeding $200 million.
The financing puts Legora within a capital-intensive competition for legal workflows: rival Harvey raised $550 million last month at a $15.5 billion valuation, according to the report. Legal research, document review and drafting give these vendors access to recurring professional work, but purchasing external tools does not eliminate competition from customers' own development teams. The report notes that many large firms buying legal AI are also building capabilities internally. That makes integration into daily practice and sustained customer adoption more consequential than financing alone; the round strengthens Legora's resources without demonstrating a durable competitive moat.
For investors, the concrete diligence question is whether expansion produces deeper, recurring use within customer organizations. Legora says the United States is already its largest revenue market, following its first U.S. office opening in New York in March 2025 and subsequent offices in four other cities. Buyers and investors should examine renewals, deployment breadth and measurable workflow savings to assess whether that commercial footprint supports the valuation.
