MIXI, the Tokyo-based company behind Monster Strike and the mixi social platform, released a beta version of RomiCore SDK, a development kit that lets Romi — its palm-sized conversational AI robot — connect to external IoT devices and services. The SDK lets Romi respond to signals from bed sensors, body-weight and blood-pressure monitors, and municipal or nursing-care systems, triggering context-aware verbal prompts such as checking in on a user who has left a bed sensor. Developers apply through a form, then pull the SDK, documentation, and sample code from a public GitHub repository; a Python runtime on a connected device is required. MIXI is already piloting the SDK with Auto Technic Japan on a personal-mobility rental and guidance use case and demonstrated it at a vehicle-technology trade show. The company is soliciting partnerships with medical device makers, care-robot and care-system vendors, local governments, and universities.
