The pre-seed launch adds an AI-native electricity retailer to the operations-focused player map, but remains an early, Denmark-specific operating-model test.
os.energy launches Osmund with €1M to build AI-led household energy retail
Copenhagen-based os.energy has emerged from stealth with a €1 million pre-seed investment from PSV Tech and the launch of Osmund, its licensed Danish electricity retailer. Osmund offers electricity at cost price with either an optional app subscription or a flat monthly subscription plan, while os.energy runs market-data, settlement, billing, customer service, and household-consumption analysis through an AI-driven platform. The company says the funding will support its platform and services for managing EV charging, heat pumps, and home batteries.
The company is testing whether AI can turn a regulated, operationally heavy retail service into a lower-cost software business. Rather than taking a margin on power consumption, Osmund plans to earn from subscriptions and energy-management services, aligning its commercial model with helping households understand and potentially reduce usage. Its app uses plain-language questions and visual explanations to address a customer experience still often shaped by opaque bills and support queues.
For builders, the notable challenge is not the conversational interface but connecting it to accurate billing, settlement, and consumption data in a service customers rely on every month. For investors, the €1 million round is an early validation point for an AI-native operating model in energy retail; the key evidence to watch is whether subscriptions and flexible-load services can support margins while the retailer maintains reliable service and regulatory compliance.
