PMatch, developer of the AI medication safety solution Pilltalk, has secured an undisclosed investment from the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance–Infobank Value-Up Venture Fund No. 2. The funding will support PMatch's AI model for managing polypharmacy in the elderly and expand adoption across care facilities in South Korea.

Founded in 2021 by Professor Hyoungki Lee of Seoul National University, PMatch launched Pilltalk in January, a service that analyzes registered medications to detect ingredient overlap and hazardous combinations, generating safety reports with scores and risk grades. In April, the company introduced Pilltalk biz cares for care settings, enabling welfare workers and pharmacists to register patient medications for automated reports and monitor high-risk populations via a web dashboard. The company has already signed paid contracts with municipal governments and home-based care agencies, including a home pharmacy initiative in Seoul's Gwanak District.

The investment underscores a broader trend in South Korea's bio-AI sector, where startups are addressing the challenges of an aging population. According to the National Health Insurance Service, 1.717 million chronic-disease patients take ten or more medications for over 60 days, with 80.6% over age 65. PMatch's technology aims to quantify medication safety, potentially extending beyond care settings into insurance underwriting, a natural fit given the insurer-backed fund. For builders and investors, this signals growing demand for AI solutions that tackle complex, real-world healthcare problems, especially in markets with rapidly aging demographics.
