Sovera Security secures €535K from EIFO for sovereign AI cybersecurity

Danish cybersecurity company Sovera Security has secured €535,000 (4 million DKK) from the Danish Export and Investment Fund, EIFO. Founded by former LogPoint founder Søren Laustrup, Sovera develops tools to help organizations detect and respond to cyber threats while retaining control of sensitive data and critical security decisions. The company says it operates its own data center and the GPUs that power its AI security platform. It plans to use the financing to develop its AI capabilities and infrastructure, expand its team, and strengthen sales across Denmark, the Nordics, and wider Europe.

The investment puts Sovera in the enterprise operations market, where AI security products must fit established requirements for resilience, compliance, and oversight. Its stated focus on European control of data and infrastructure addresses a procurement concern for critical infrastructure operators and larger enterprises: where security data is processed and who governs automated responses. The combination of AI, automation, and human control is central to Sovera's pitch, but the funding announcement offers no evidence yet of detection performance, customer adoption, or commercial scale.

For builders and investors, the concrete test is whether Sovera's infrastructure choices produce a security service that buyers can deploy and govern without sacrificing response quality or economics. Operating its own data center may help answer data residency and control questions, while also making utilization and operating costs important diligence points. EIFO's backing gives Sovera resources to pursue Nordic and European customers; evidence from those deployments will matter more than the sovereign AI label alone.
