UBTech (优必选) used WRC 2026 to run what it describes as a full, unscripted replica of a customer's production line rather than a staged demo. Nearly ten industrial humanoid robots — Cruzr S2 and Cruzr Y1 — operated unattended from open to close, handling auto stamped- and machined-part loading at sub-millimeter positioning, pallet and box handling, and small-parcel sorting for skincare packaging at close to 1,100 picks per hour, with self-correction on failed grasps. Alongside this, UBTech showed a new commercial-service robot, Walker C1, and a consumer companion robot, U1, running an emotion model called Resonance-LM. The company attributes the reliability to a three-layer embodied-AI stack it calls Thinker — a perception model, a world model (Thinker-WM) that predicts action outcomes, and an execution model (Thinker-VLA) — with edge optimization that UBTech says cut on-device GPU memory needs from 64GB to 32GB and lifted inference efficiency 176%.
The harder-to-fake signal in humanoid robotics is not choreography but sustained, unsupervised operation on someone else's factory floor, and UBTech's disclosed training mix — 60-70% real-robot data, about 20% first-person data, only 10% simulation — signals a bet that deployed operation, not simulation, is the durable data advantage. UBTech is also visibly building a vertically integrated supply chain around that bet: a new edge-chip joint venture with MetaX (沐曦) targeting tape-out in 2027 and mass production in 2028, an acquisition of listed component maker Fenglong (锋龙股份) for dexterous hands and servo drives, and a Siemens-built factory with 10,000-unit annual capacity that began production this month. Per the AI Market Watch index, name-matched coverage of UBTech has picked up — three items logged in the past 90 days versus zero in the prior 90 (name-matched, pipeline-ingested sources only) — consistent with a shift from prototype messaging to disclosed commercial scale.
UBTech says full-size humanoid revenue reached roughly RMB 820 million (~$115M) in 2025 on 1,079 units sold, with over 80% deployed in auto manufacturing, smart logistics, electronics, semiconductor, and aerospace settings, and named customers including BYD, Geely, Foxconn, and Hitachi China. For builders and investors, the more decisive metric than announced order counts is whether a deployed unit stays in service past the pilot stage, since only sustained deployment generates the failure-and-correction data that feeds the next model cycle — and vertical integration into chips, actuators, and factory capacity is UBTech's hedge against a supply chain that still lacks a dominant standard component stack.
