Korean sleep-tech startup Vibrest has released TranSleep AI, a smartphone app that records and analyzes overnight snoring, coughing, irregular breathing, and ambient noise without sending audio to external servers. Users place a phone near the bed before sleep; the app separates user sounds from environmental noise, then surfaces event times, counts, durations, optional playback of flagged clips, waveforms for louder stretches, plus sleep-efficiency and sleep-rhythm metrics. Analysis runs on the handset, and only event segments—not a continuous overnight recording—are stored locally.
The launch sits at the intersection of consumer sleep monitoring and privacy-first edge inference. Sleep audio is highly sensitive bedroom data; Vibrest is competing on a trust claim—on-device processing, no server transmission of recordings, free access without subscriptions or in-app purchases, and no ad-consent or location-permission asks—while sleep tech itself migrates from wearables and mat sensors toward phone-only capture.
