Anthropic launches Claude Design, a new AI tool for generating visual prototypes and presentation decks.
Anthropic launched Claude Design, an experimental product powered by Claude Opus 4.7, which generates visual prototypes, slides, and one-pagers from text descriptions. It is available in a research preview for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. The tool allows for iterative refinement through direct edits or requests and can export outputs as PDFs, URLs, PPTX files, or to Canva for further editing. A key feature is its ability to apply a company's design system by reading its codebase and design files, ensuring brand consistency.
This launch represents Anthropic's strategic push into the enterprise and prosumer categories, intensifying competition in AI workplace tools. While positioned to complement existing platforms like Canva rather than replace them, it directly targets the workflow of non-designers needing rapid visualizations. The move follows Anthropic's January rollout of Claude Cowork, an agentic assistant, and subsequent agentic plug-ins, signaling a focused expansion into productivity and design automation.
From an expert perspective, Claude Design is a logical extension of Anthropic's enterprise strategy, embedding its models deeper into professional workflows. The design system integration is a notable technical differentiator, offering genuine enterprise value by automating brand adherence. However, the 'research preview' label suggests the product is not yet fully commercialized, serving as a market test. This launch occurs amidst reported, but unaccepted, preemptive VC funding offers valuing Anthropic at $800 billion or more, indicating intense market pressure to solidify its position against rivals like OpenAI through product diversification and utility.
