Birdsview Raises €2.5 Million Seed To Scale Avys AI Retention Agent For Retailers
Birdsview, a German startup founded by Ozan Brochwitz-Tuerker and Tim Kuesters, has raised a €2.5 million seed round from Fortino Ventures and Newion to scale its AI retention agent Avys. The product is designed as a B2C retention agent trained on retail product knowledge, automating personalized email and SMS campaigns to drive repeat purchases. The founders previously ran a customer retention agency, which they say gave them direct insight into the pain points Avys targets.
This funding sits within the broader AI agent landscape, specifically targeting the retail retention vertical where traditional tools like Klaviyo become a scaling bottleneck as catalog complexity grows. Birdsview's pitch is that Avys replaces the need for agencies and rule-based marketing platforms — a direct inversion of the business model its founders once operated. At €2.5M, this is a modest seed round, but it exemplifies a recurring pattern: domain-specific AI agents trained on proprietary product knowledge, replacing human-managed workflows with autonomous execution.
The emergence of verticalized AI retention agents like Avys updates the debate around which layers of the marketing stack are most vulnerable to full automation. Rather than augmenting human marketers with better tooling, Birdsview aims to eliminate the human-in-the-loop entirely for retention campaigns. If successful, this could compress margins for traditional email marketing agencies and challenge established platforms like Klaviyo. However, the company must prove its 8x revenue uplift claim at scale and defend against incumbents adding similar autonomous features.
