Cohesity expands HPE partnership targeting hybrid cloud and cyber resilience

Cohesity, an AI-based data security company, is expanding its strategic partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to target the hybrid cloud and cyber resilience markets for cyber resilience. The expanded collaboration includes mutual resale agreements, deeper technology integration, and joint go-to-market strategies. Cohesity will resell HPE's disaster recovery solution Zerto, while HPE will offer Cohesity's DataProtect and NetBackup solutions. The two companies are also integrating HPE Morpheus-based virtualization and cloud management with Cohesity's platform, with related features scheduled for mid-2026. Cohesity recently, Cohesity participated with HPE in a U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency hybrid cloud modernization project.

Why it matters: This partnership exemplifies the hyperscaler-distribution pattern, in which AI-infrastructure incumbents like HPE extend their enterprise reach by bundling specialized AI-driven security software alongside core compute and storage. By integrating Cohesity's AI-based data protection with HPE's hybrid cloud stack, both companies strengthen their positions in the enterprise cyber resilience segment, a market increasingly defined by multi-cloud complexity and rising recovery-speed demands. The deal also illustrates how data security vendors differentiate through partnerships that span physical hardware, virtualization layers, and disaster recovery orchestration.

The expanded resale of Zerto's continuous data protection capabilities directly addresses enterprise pain points around ultra-low RPO and RTO targets. Cohesity's CEO Sanjay Poonen framed the collaboration as enabling faster, more reliable data recovery, while HPE's Fidelma Russo emphasized supporting enterprises in balancing data protection with operational efficiency across multi-cloud environments. The joint DISA project signals public-sector credibility, a valuable reference for regulated enterprise buyers.
