New entrant in interactive video (Segment 09) with a strong founding team from Huawei; updates player map and exemplifies hyperscaler spinout pattern (fastest ARR ramp analog).
Zhenyue Technology (帧跃科技), a Huawei-affiliated AI startup focused on interactive video, has closed a multi-million dollar angel round. Investors include Sinovation Ventures, Guoquian Capital, Zero One Ventures, Plug and Play China, and InnoAngel Fund. The company, founded in June 2025, is led by CEO Yang Changpeng, former head of Huawei Cloud's Media Innovation Lab. CTO Li Minglei, previously chief scientist for multimodal AI at Huawei Cloud, led training of Huawei’s initial Pangu model. Zhenyue plans to launch its first product, Leadde, in the second half of 2026. Leadde is a platform that orchestrates video generation across three modes: DiT-based generative AI, code-based procedural generation, and 3D rendering with physics simulation, dynamically selecting the best approach based on task requirements.
Why it matters: This startup exemplifies the recurring pattern of hyperscaler talent spinning out to build vertical AI infrastructure, a dynamic closely watched by the AI industry. The founding team's combined expertise in real-time interactive media infrastructure (Yang) and large multimodal model training (Li) positions Zhenyue to challenge the emerging interactive video generation market. Their “three-pillar” architecture integrating generative models, code-based control, and physics rendering could address the current gap between visual quality and interactive controllability in video AI products. The involvement of Zero One Ventures (Li Kaifu’s fund) adds signal that this segment is attracting top-tier crossover investors.
Grounded expert take: Zhenyue’s approach mirrors the pattern seen in AI coding tools (Segment 03) where orchestration across multiple engines — rather than relying on a single model — has become a moat. If Leadde successfully unifies generative AI, procedural logic, and real-time physics, it could set a new baseline for interactive video experiences. However, the company faces significant execution risk in delivering a platform that is both high-quality and low-latency, a challenge that has tripped up predecessors in the interactive media space. This is a space to watch for potential disruption to existing video production and gaming tools.
