AIONA Raises ¥140M Seed Round for Manufacturing Design Agent REVY
Tokyo-based AIONA has raised a total of ¥140 million (about $0.9 million) in seed financing for REVY, its AI agent for manufacturing design work. The round combines J-KISS-style stock acquisition rights and bank lending, with ON&BOARD, GxPartners, Crest Skill Partners, Mizuho Capital, Aichi Bank, and Mizuho Bank listed as backers. Founded in October 2024, AIONA is developing REVY to apply AI to technical documents, engineering drawings, and experienced engineers' tacit knowledge.
REVY targets a consequential but difficult enterprise-AI surface: the design decisions embedded across quality function deployment, reuse-design selection, design FMEA, DRBFM, and drawing checks. These processes often depend on fragmented records and veteran expertise that is hard to standardize or transfer. An agent that can support work across those steps, while retaining the decision rationale as reusable knowledge, is aiming at both engineering productivity and the succession problem facing manufacturing organizations.
For builders, the practical test is whether REVY can connect its recommendations to the source documents and engineering rationale that users must trust in design reviews. For investors, the small seed round is an early signal rather than validation of a broad platform: the key evidence will be deployment depth, integration with existing engineering workflows, and whether accumulated design knowledge becomes a durable advantage over general-purpose AI tools.
