Meta Launches Muse, a Personal AI Agent for Everyday Tasks
Meta has introduced Muse, a personal AI agent designed to handle everyday projects including online shopping, email, and trip planning. Meta says the agent can operate a browser, fill in forms, negotiate on a user’s behalf, and continue longer tasks in the background after the app is closed. It will return to the user when circumstances change or approval is needed, such as before a purchase. Muse is scheduled to launch in the US on iOS, Android, and muse.ai, with AI-glasses support described as coming soon.
The launch puts Meta more directly into the emerging consumer-agent market, where the central challenge is not simply producing capable task automation but making it accessible enough for mainstream use. Meta is positioning Muse around messaging-style interaction through its app and WhatsApp, rather than a technical workflow, while promising persistent memory that can support suggestions based on information shared previously. The product will be free for most users, with unspecified paid subscriptions for heavier usage.
For builders and investors, Muse raises the competitive bar for agents that seek access to high-trust consumer workflows. Browser control, background execution, personal memory, payment-related approvals, and data controls must work together before an assistant becomes useful for consequential tasks. Meta says users can opt out of having interactions used for model training and can ask Muse to forget specific information; how those controls are configured and whether users trust them will be central to adoption.
