Meta Expands Muse With Computer Use, Video Avatars, Email, and Smart-Glasses Plans
The AMW Read
Muse is an incremental but strategically meaningful expansion of Meta's consumer agent into desktop, email, video, and wearable interaction surfaces.
Meta Expands Muse With Computer Use, Video Avatars, Email, and Smart-Glasses Plans
Meta said it is expanding its recently launched Muse AI agent with dedicated email addresses, computer-use capability in its Mac app, live video conversations with customizable avatars, and planned smart-glasses integration. The email addresses are intended to let Muse complete tasks and receive user communications, while the Mac feature would allow the agent to operate a computer. Meta also plans to use a Muse Realtime Avatar model for video interactions, and says smart-glasses support will enable conversations about what a wearer is seeing.
The update moves Muse beyond a chatbot surface toward a more complete agent stack: it can communicate across channels, act on a desktop, and potentially gain persistent visual context through wearable hardware. That matters because consumer agents increasingly compete on distribution and action surfaces, not solely on model quality. Meta already introduced Muse with WhatsApp and payment capabilities; adding email, computer use, and glasses broadens the set of tasks it could mediate while tying the product more tightly to Meta-controlled consumer interfaces.
For builders, the implication is that an agent product needs clear permissions, reliable handoffs, and a coherent identity across chat, email, desktop, and voice or video interfaces. For investors, Muse is a test of whether Meta can convert existing social, messaging, and wearable distribution into recurring agent use. The early app-chart momentum cited in prior coverage is not evidence of durable retention, but these additions show Meta is rapidly seeking higher-frequency workflows before consumer-agent habits consolidate around competing platforms.
