Meta reportedly prepares Hatch consumer agent and October Watermelon model.
PingWest, citing a report from The Information based on internal documents, says Meta Platforms plans to launch a consumer AI agent called Hatch within weeks. The same report says Meta is targeting October for Watermelon, its next-generation AI model. Meta is reportedly considering tiered Hatch subscriptions, with a premium tier priced as high as $199.99 a month for greater usage allowances. The plans remain unannounced by Meta and should be treated as reported, not confirmed product commitments.
If launched as described, Hatch would mark a more explicit consumer-business test for Meta's AI spending: moving beyond conversational generation toward software intended to autonomously carry out tasks. The reported subscription ceiling also suggests Meta is testing whether consumers will pay directly for higher-capacity agent access, rather than relying solely on advertising-supported distribution. It would extend Meta's recent agent-focused product push, following its reported releases of Muse Glimmer and Muse Code earlier this month.
For builders, the relevant benchmark will be whether Hatch can reliably complete useful multi-step tasks at a price that justifies a premium subscription, not simply whether it offers another chat interface. For investors, the paired agent and model roadmap is a signal to watch for evidence that Meta can turn model development into recurring consumer revenue without weakening the accessibility that supports its broader platform distribution.
