Cloverleaf Partners With Nvidia to Expand AI Data Center Development
Nvidia has announced a partnership with Cloverleaf Infrastructure, a data center developer founded in 2024 that works between utilities and data center operators on power and other site-development requirements. The companies did not disclose terms. Reuters reported that Nvidia holds a minority stake, while The Wall Street Journal reported that the chipmaker's investment could total several hundred million dollars. Cloverleaf previously raised $300 million in 2024.
The deal extends Nvidia's role beyond supplying AI systems into the physical prerequisites for deploying them. Reliable power access, utility coordination, and developable sites are becoming critical constraints as AI data centers expand. Nvidia also announced a $1.5 billion investment earlier this week in SB Energy, an OpenAI-linked data center project in Ohio, underscoring its increasingly direct involvement in the infrastructure that supports demand for its hardware.
For builders, the implication is that securing compute increasingly depends on power and site readiness, not only GPU procurement. For investors, Cloverleaf illustrates where value can accrue around the AI buildout: companies that reduce the delay between a planned data center and an energized facility may become strategically important even if they do not operate the data centers themselves.
