On Tuesday, OpenAI released GPT-5.5 Instant, a new foundation model that will replace GPT-5.3 Instant as the default model for ChatGPT. The company says the model reduces hallucination in sensitive areas such as law, medicine, and finance while maintaining low latency. It scored 81.2 on the AIME 2025 math test, up from 65.4, and 76 on the MMMU-Pro multimodal reasoning benchmark, up from 69.2. The model also features improved context management, allowing it to search past conversations, files, and Gmail for personalized answers, rolling out first to Plus and Pro users.
