The round incrementally updates the legal AI player map, with expansion and planned API access relevant to legal research data buyers but no evidence of a segment-wide shift.
Pandektes raises €13.5 million to expand legal data access for AI research
Copenhagen-based Pandektes has raised a €13.5 million Series A led by Alstin Capital, with PROfounders, Scale Capital, and existing investors participating. The company structures legal information from thousands of sources for research and AI applications. Pandektes says it serves more than 500 organizations across Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. It plans to expand in Europe and North America and make its data available through an API.
The investment puts legal data access at the center of an AI research business. Within legal AI, the relevant competitive question is whether organizing source material creates a durable advantage alongside the applications that use it. Pandektes' planned API would give its structured information a distribution route beyond its own research platform, potentially allowing other applications to use the same data foundation. That makes source coverage and data usability central to assessing its position. The reported customer count establishes a footprint in three markets, but does not establish revenue, retention, or research accuracy.
For builders and investors, the concrete diligence task is to test how well that data foundation travels across jurisdictions. Evaluate source completeness, update frequency, citation traceability, and rights to redistribute information through an API before treating expansion as repeatable. The funding provides resources for the stated expansion plans; evidence of reliable coverage and sustained customer use would help establish whether the platform can turn its existing footprint into a broader legal data business.
