PPIO launches Fusion model gateway, delivering top-tier intelligence at one-tenth the cost

PPIO has unveiled its Fusion model gateway, a new feature that orchestrates multiple AI models to deliver answers that rival top-tier models at a fraction of the cost. In the DRACO deep research benchmark, the Fusion approach—using open-source models Kimi K3, GLM 5.2, and MiniMax M3 as advisors with DeepSeek V4 Flash as aggregator—scored 57.34, surpassing Claude Fable 5's 55.14, while costing only ¥57.59 versus ¥566, roughly one-tenth the price. The gateway routes each request to several models, cross-validates their outputs, and has an aggregator model synthesize the final answer, effectively making the orchestration layer itself a source of intelligence.

This move reflects a broader shift in the AI market: intelligence gains are no longer confined to scaling model parameters but can also come from how models are combined at the inference layer. As the agent era unfolds, developers face the challenge of model specialization and hallucination, which single-model architectures struggle to address. PPIO's gateway addresses these issues by providing multiple independent reasoning paths, reducing blind spots and offering a second perspective to catch errors. This is particularly valuable for agentic workflows, where a single failure can cascade and inflate token costs. By decoupling intelligence quality from model size, it could reshape how enterprises approach model selection, preferring cost-effective orchestration over expensive frontier models.

For builders, this signals a new lever to optimize both cost and quality without waiting for the next model release. For investors, it highlights the growing strategic importance of the inference and orchestration layer, where companies like PPIO can capture value by differentiating on smart routing and cost efficiency. As token consumption scales—PPIO reports daily token usage over 1.2 trillion as of June 2026, ranking first among independent AI cloud providers in China—the economic case for such gateways strengthens. However, the durable moat remains unclear: as frontier models improve and costs fall, the value of orchestration may diminish. Still, for now, it offers a pragmatic path to high-quality AI at lower cost, aligning with market pressures toward efficiency.
