SAP has agreed to acquire Prior Labs, a two-year-old German AI startup specializing in tabular foundation models, for over €1 billion over four years. Founded in 2024 by Frank Hutter, Noah Hollmann, and Sauraj Gambhir, Prior Labs is known for TabPFN, an open-source AI tool with over 3 million downloads, and its latest model TabPFN-2.6, which tops the TabArena benchmark. The startup had raised just €9 million in pre-seed funding from Balderton Capital before the acquisition, which is expected to close in Q2-Q3 2026.
