Sejinsa secures bridge investment and TIPS backing for AI vehicle-management development
Sejinsa has secured an undisclosed bridge investment from Seoul National University Technology Holdings and selection for South Korea's TIPS startup support program, following a 1.5 billion won seed investment from Hashed Ventures. TIPS will provide 800 million won in R&D support over two years. The company will use the investment for customer acquisition, operating infrastructure and hiring, while the R&D funding supports AI vehicle-condition identification and personalized maintenance recommendations.
The AI-market significance lies in adding decision support to an existing service workflow. Sejinsa launched its mobile car wash service in August 2023 and now also offers maintenance services, including engine-oil and tire replacement. By September 2026, it reported more than 60,000 cumulative washes and over 4,000 service crew members. Repeated washes provide opportunities to collect images and work histories for the same vehicle. That operational access could support recommendations connected to maintenance bookings, although transaction counts alone do not establish diagnostic accuracy or a defensible data advantage.
For builders and investors, the concrete diligence question is whether the collected evidence supports each recommendation. Images may help identify exterior damage, but the article notes that exterior photos alone cannot directly establish engine-oil condition or battery performance. Additional data and inspection methods remain to be specified. The AI identification and recommendation functions are development targets under the TIPS project and are not all deployed commercially; funding and service activity should therefore be assessed separately from demonstrated model performance.
