Supabase co-founder and CEO Paul Copplestone said in a YC Root Access interview that the open-source Postgres-as-a-service platform now serves roughly 10 million developers, up from about 6.5 million at the start of 2026 — a 6-7x increase over twelve months. He frames the growth as three successive AI waves: the vector-database and RAG wave anchored by pgvector in early 2023, the vibe-coding wave led by Lovable and Bolt in late 2024, and the Claude Code wave starting Christmas 2025, which he called the most transformative, lifting activation and conversion together. Over 60% of new databases are now launched by an agent rather than a human — likely closer to 90% once uncounted CLI-driven launches are included — pushing Supabase to treat MCP and CLI as first-class interfaces. A newer product line, Supabase for Platforms, lets other companies, including Lovable, build on Supabase's infrastructure, now serving more than 50 customers.
