Supabase raises $150M and adds Turso to its AI agent database strategy

The Turso acquisition agreement and hosted sandboxes meaningfully expand Supabase's database offering, with segment-level implications for bundling data services around AI agent workloads.
Supabase raises $150M and adds Turso to its AI agent database strategy
Supabase has raised $150 million in a round led by Singapore's GIC, with CapitalG, IronArc and SquarePeg participating, according to SiliconANGLE reporting summarized by AI Weekly. It also agreed to acquire Turso for an undisclosed sum and introduced Supabase Compute, a cloud service offering hosted sandboxes for long-running AI agents. The proceeds will support employee liquidity and new agent capabilities. The report does not disclose a new valuation or explain how Turso's team and open-source stack will be integrated.
The deal places Supabase's managed PostgreSQL business alongside Turso's SQLite-based database, which has a small hardware footprint and adds embedding support and per-page encryption. In the AI data infrastructure market, this extends the general-purpose database approach: agent applications can become a distribution channel for database providers that already bundle authentication, backups and embedding storage. Hosted sandboxes add an adjacent execution service. CEO Paul Copplestone says agents are spinning up millions of databases, but that claim does not establish how much of this activity becomes sustained, paid production usage.
For builders, the concrete question is whether managed Postgres, lightweight SQLite databases and agent sandboxes work together well enough to simplify deployment. Integration details remain undisclosed, so the acquisition agreement alone cannot answer that question. For investors, the useful distinction is between agent-driven database creation and durable revenue: bundling expands the services Supabase can sell, while retention and monetization determine whether that broader stack strengthens its position.
