Turing raises KRW 7 billion (~$5.1M) Series B to broaden GPAI for university students.

Turing, a developer of reasoning-focused AI agents, raised KRW 7 billion in a Series B led by new investors Korea Development Bank, Kingo Investment Partners, and Company K Partners, with follow-on backing from Kolon Investment. The company said it will use the funding to expand GPAI from STEM-focused learning into a broader university workflow product covering lecture materials, assignments, exam preparation, presentations, and team projects. GPAI combines problem-solving capabilities, document processing, and a proprietary visualization engine.

The company says GPAI passed 1.5 million registered users within a year and is active in Korea and the United States, including use at 415 U.S. universities. Its decision to make previously paid features free during the university semester opening is strategically significant: student AI products are moving from single-task utilities toward persistent workflow surfaces. That can improve adoption, but it also makes retention and monetization the central test once a broad free tier becomes the acquisition channel.

For builders, the practical lesson is that domain-specific reasoning alone is unlikely to be enough; the product must fit the documents, deadlines, collaboration, and presentation work that define users' daily routines. For investors, Turing's next proof points are whether broadening beyond STEM preserves engagement and whether university and research-institution partnerships create a durable B2B or B2G distribution path alongside its consumer user base.
