South Korean on-device AI startup Out of Set (아웃오브셋) has raised an undisclosed seed round from venture capital firm TheVentures (더벤처스), the company announced on May 20. Founded by CEO Kim Hyung-joo and co-founder Lee Hyun-seung, the startup develops ultra-lightweight vertical AI models that run entirely on-device without internet connectivity. Kim previously led speech AI development at NeoSpeecheh and Supertone, where his on-device voice synthesis model ranked #1 on Hugging Face in its category and garnered thousands of GitHub stars. Lee holds a Ph.D. candidacy in speech recognition at Seoul National University and designed real-time speech recognition systems at AI simultaneous interpretation firm XL8.
