Cyera Acquires Chamelio to Extend Data Governance for Enterprise AI
Enterprise data-security company Cyera has acquired Chamelio, an AI-native data-governance vendor. Cyera said the deal expands its capabilities in data discovery, governance, and securing enterprise AI adoption. Financial terms were not disclosed in the supplied report.
The transaction brings data governance closer to the security controls enterprises need before allowing AI systems to work with internal information. Discovering where sensitive data resides is only one part of the problem; companies also need policies and governance that determine what data AI tools and agents may access. That makes governance a more central part of the enterprise AI control plane, rather than a separate compliance workflow.
The acquisition also extends Cyera's recent push into AI-agent security. Our prior coverage reported its acquisition of Oasis Security for $1B in July to address AI-agent identities; adding Chamelio suggests Cyera is assembling controls across both non-human identities and the data those systems can reach. For builders, the implication is that enterprise deployment will increasingly require governance features to be embedded in AI workflows. For investors, it reinforces that data-security vendors can broaden through targeted acquisitions as enterprise AI adoption raises the cost of weak data controls.
