Flowtica prepares overseas presales for its Verso AI companion
The AMW Read
Verso adds a hardware interface to personal memory and task execution, but the presale update provides no adoption or reliability evidence supporting broader agent-market impact.
Flowtica prepares overseas presales for its Verso AI companion
Flowtica is preparing overseas presales for Verso, a phone-mounted device with an e-paper screen designed to combine recording with AI task execution. In an October 22 interview with Leiphone, founder Rian said Verso was already accepting reservations. He described an AI button for assigning research tasks and receiving visual results, alongside calendar, to-do, email and meeting-preparation functions. The company previously raised $330,000 on Kickstarter for its Scribe AI recording pen. Rian said Verso's first-quarter shipment target was tens of thousands of units; that is a target, not reported sales.
The competitive question is whether persistent personal context can make a dedicated device worth carrying and subscribing to. Flowtica positions memory as its differentiator from recording-focused products: user-marked moments help identify important context, while accumulated memory is intended to improve personalized insights and task execution. This puts Verso in the agent market, where retaining context and completing useful work matter more than transcription alone. Rian acknowledged that an app could provide the functionality; the hardware proposition is a nearby, visible entry point. He also said the device would not listen continuously.
For builders and investors, the concrete test is whether deeper memory produces repeat use and paid retention after the hardware purchase. Flowtica says subscriptions cover real AI usage costs and unlock deeper memory capabilities, while its free tier remains usable. The interview provides no retention, subscription-conversion or completed-task reliability figures. Reservations and shipment ambitions therefore establish commercial intent, but do not yet demonstrate that memory can sustain a premium over competing devices or phone apps.
