Focies Patents AI Technology for Automated Electronic Contract Forms
Focies, an electronic-document and contract-software company, has registered a patent for AI that analyzes PDFs, scanned images, and Word files to generate electronic-form fields automatically. The system identifies areas for names, contact details, signatures, permissions, and signing order, then assigns field locations, sizes, formats, and defaults. Focies says the technology underpins the AI Assistant introduced last September on its eformsign cloud platform, while keeping a human reviewer in the loop to amend generated fields before use.
The announcement places document automation closer to an operational AI workflow than a basic optical-character-recognition feature. Extracting text from a contract is useful, but converting an existing document into an executable, routed, and permissioned electronic form removes a more persistent implementation bottleneck: the manual configuration required before a document can enter an approval or signature process. Focies is also extending the assistant toward contract summarization, question answering, natural-language document retrieval, and task execution, including searches constrained by date, value, and author.
For builders, the useful distinction is between document understanding and workflow-ready document transformation. Reliable field detection must work across scans, tables, and unstructured layouts while allowing users to verify the result; that review layer matters in high-consequence contracting flows. For investors, the key question is whether Focies can convert its established document software and more than 20 related domestic and international patents into adoption across a broader enterprise information layer through AIOZ EKA and OZ Report, rather than treating form generation as a standalone feature.
