HubX Raises $75M Series A at a $1.2B Valuation for Global App Acquisitions

The AMW Read

A $75 million first outside round establishes HubX as a better-capitalized app acquirer, but the source provides limited evidence of a broader AI technology shift.

HubX Raises $75M Series A at a $1.2B Valuation for Global App Acquisitions

HubX said it raised up to $75 million from Point72 Private Investments in its first outside financing: $50 million initially and an option for a further $25 million. The company said the round values it at $1.2 billion before the new money, making it Turkey's eighth unicorn. Based in Izmir and Istanbul, HubX says it has remained profitable since launching in 2022 while building more than 40 mobile and web products, amassing more than 600 million downloads across 190 countries, and growing to more than 370 employees.

Rather than finance a single model or app, the round supports a portfolio operator whose playbook combines rapid product testing, growth and monetization systems, and the purchase of applications with existing users. That is relevant to the AI market because HubX says part of its portfolio includes photo-editing, productivity, and AI tools; its next phase depends on whether those shared operating systems can turn feature-level AI demand into durable subscriptions and retention. The report does not name the underlying models, vendors, or product-level AI performance, so the valuation should not be treated as evidence of a separate model or infrastructure breakthrough.

For builders with proven mobile or web products, HubX's stated acquisition strategy could create an alternative route to scale: join a larger portfolio that supplies growth and monetization capabilities instead of independently funding global distribution. For investors, the concrete test is execution after the round: which products it acquires, whether user retention and monetization improve, and how much portfolio growth comes from identifiable AI functionality rather than conventional app optimization. The company has signaled a global ambition, but the current disclosure supports an expansion thesis more clearly than a technology thesis.
