Infisical raises $40 million to expand AI agent credential security
Infisical announced a $40 million Series B on October 27 at a $600 million valuation. Elad Gil led the round, with Gradient, Y Combinator, Gallery Ventures, Pace Capital and Dynamic Capital participating. The San Francisco company plans to fund product development, hiring and further work on AI agent security. Infisical is known for its open-source secrets manager.
The funding places Infisical in the market for infrastructure that lets AI agents act on enterprise systems. Its Agent Vault is designed to give an agent a substitute API key while keeping the real credential out of its view. This approach addresses a practical constraint on agent deployment: an agent may need access to code, databases or cloud infrastructure, but exposing the underlying credentials creates another security risk. The funding signals investor interest in that access layer; it does not establish how well the product prevents attacks in production.
For builders, the distinction between credential exposure and access permissions matters. Hiding a real credential does not by itself establish what an agent can do with the access it receives. Teams evaluating Agent Vault should examine its access controls, session handling and audit logs against their own workflows. For investors, the key question is whether demand for agent-specific access controls can translate into durable adoption alongside Infisical's existing secrets-management business.
