Listen Labs Drops $125M Series C as Salesforce Acquisition Talks Emerge
Listen Labs reportedly walked away from a signed $125 million Series C term sheet led by Menlo Ventures at a $1.5 billion valuation, according to TechCrunch. The financing did not close as Salesforce held discussions to acquire the AI customer-research startup for roughly $2 billion, though the talks remain unfinished and may not produce a transaction. Listen Labs uses voice AI to generate survey questions, conduct audio or video customer interviews, and package findings into reports and presentations.
The episode puts a spotlight on AI-enabled customer research as a strategic enterprise-software category rather than a narrow automation feature. Listen Labs reportedly has about $30 million in annualized revenue and counts Microsoft, Canva, Anthropic, and Sweetgreen among its customers. Its proposed acquisition price would imply a steep revenue multiple, reflecting both the potential value of faster customer insight loops and the uncertainty around whether large software platforms will pay premium prices for specialized AI workflow companies.
For builders, the signal is that automation must translate into a clearly differentiated workflow and enterprise customer access, not merely lower research costs. For investors, the unclosed financing is a reminder that an acquisition discussion can reset a late-stage process, but it does not establish a realized exit value. Per the AI Market Watch index, Listen Labs has raised $100 million in total funding, within an index that tracks about 5,000 companies rather than a market census.
