Microsoft's largest India data center hub is now officially operational in Hyderabad. The new cloud region, part of the company's $20.5 billion investment commitment to India's AI and cloud infrastructure, includes three availability zones designed to support AI workloads and mission-critical enterprise applications. The Hyderabad facility brings Microsoft's total cloud regions in India to four, alongside existing hubs in Pune, Chennai, and Mumbai, with two additional data centers operated in partnership with Jio.

Early customers of the Hyderabad region include Adani Group, Bajaj Finance, and HDFC Bank, signaling strong demand across financial services and diversified enterprises. This launch comes as India's enterprise AI adoption accelerates, with industry researcher IDC projecting the country's public cloud services market will reach $45.7 billion by 2030, growing at 22.2 percent annually while AI spending expands at nearly twice that pace. Microsoft President for India and South Asia Puneet Chandok emphasized that the infrastructure addresses a key enterprise concern: moving from AI experimentation to durable business value.

Microsoft's hyperscale presence in India now includes both owned and partnered facilities, positioning the company ahead of rivals Alphabet's Google and Amazon, which are also investing heavily in the country's data center capacity. For builders and investors in the region, this expanded localized infrastructure means lower latency, improved data residency compliance, and more accessible enterprise-grade AI compute without relying on international cloud regions. The competitive pressure on hyperscalers to establish sovereign infrastructure footprints is likely to continue as India emerges as a critical market for AI adoption.
