Task-specific interactive answers meaningfully update OpenAI's ChatGPT offering, with segment-level implications for model distribution and product differentiation but no demonstrated workflow gains.
OpenAI expands GPT-6 in ChatGPT with interactive, task-specific answers
OpenAI announced a phased rollout of GPT-6 and Intelligent UI across ChatGPT, including free accounts. Paid-plan access begins October 8, with Free and Go expansion starting after October 9, Korean time. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise receive GPT-6 Sol; Free and Go receive GPT-6 Luna. Enterprise availability depends on administrator settings. The update applies to Chat; models powering Work and Codex remain unchanged. Intelligent UI combines text, images, charts and buttons according to the request, including interactive calculations and visual comparisons.
The market significance is the combination of model access and control over the interface where users consume answers. For a foundation-model provider, distribution through ChatGPT lets OpenAI introduce new capabilities directly into existing workflows. Task-specific interfaces could make comparisons, planning and learning more useful within a single response, extending the product beyond conversational text. That is a product differentiation claim, however, rather than evidence of autonomous task execution or proven economic value. OpenAI also reports that GPT-6 Instant started answering web-search questions 44% faster than GPT-5.6 Instant in internal evaluations; this measures response onset, not total task completion.
Builders should evaluate whether generated interfaces improve completion of specific tasks before treating them as substitutes for dedicated applications. A concrete test is whether users can compare options or change calculation inputs accurately, with less effort than in a text exchange. Investors should distinguish the breadth of the rollout from demonstrated adoption and retention. The source provides rollout details and company-reported evaluations, but no independent evidence of workflow gains; Work and Codex also remain outside this model update.
