Phinity Labs raises $5.2 million to develop AI agents for chip design
Phinity Labs has emerged from stealth with $5.2 million in seed funding to develop AI agents that design computer chips from text prompts. Uncork Capital led the round, with participation from Moxxie and angel investors including Jeff Dean. The company was co-founded by Sonya Jin and Aadi Nashikkar. It previously raised a pre-seed round led by Pear through its PearX program.
Phinity is targeting a broad chip-design workflow, from architecture discovery through tape-out, when a completed design is sent for manufacturing. The company says it plans to build a closed-loop system that designs, evaluates, and revises computational systems using physical feedback. This places the startup at the intersection of AI agents and semiconductor design, where the proposed value depends on linking automated decisions to evidence from testing. The announcement does not explain what the physical feedback involves or how much of the system exists today.
For investors and builders, the next concrete question is whether the system can complete and improve designs through that feedback loop. The founders argue that AI could explore architectures beyond the reach of human search, but the announcement provides no test results to support that claim. Phinity has not disclosed customers, revenue, a valuation, or a product availability date. The funding establishes backing for the project; it does not yet establish technical performance or commercial demand.
