Anthropic's Claude Code has emerged as the de facto AI coding assistant inside many startups, according to a Business Insider survey of more than two dozen startup founders and venture capitalists. Chainguard CEO Dan Lorenc encapsulated the shift, saying the tool is now used for "everything that's not Claude Code." The report also notes venture capital is flowing heavily into competing AI coding startups including Lovable, Replit, and Cursor.
