New AI-native enterprise software-delivery entrant with an $85M seed stack updates the coding/services player map; meaningful for the sub-segment but not a structural market reset.
Hang Ten closes another $53M seed five weeks after its first raise
Hang Ten Systems, the Palo Alto AI startup founded in May by former Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka, has expanded its seed financing by another $53 million just five weeks after an initial $32 million close, TechCrunch reported. Temasek’s early-stage platform Xora led the extension; Mayfield, which led the first tranche, also participated, alongside Aramco Ventures and individual investors including Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, and Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang. Total funding now stands at $85 million. Hang Ten advises enterprises typically above $10 billion in revenue on AI strategy and builds production software using an in-house framework, Hobie, that packages reusable AI “skills” for regulated industries. Named customers include Fresenius Kabi, Saudi Aramco, and Siemens Energy, with a pipeline spanning the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia and multiple seven-figure contracts already signed.
The raise lands in a crowded lane where frontier labs are pushing enterprise offerings and traditional consultancies are bolting generative AI onto legacy delivery models. Hang Ten’s bet is different: that AI collapses the cost and cycle time of building software toward near zero, so the scarce work becomes requirements definition and validation, and that large buyers still want a platform-independent partner rather than a model vendor. Early proof points—a multimillion-dollar mission-critical deal within 25 days of a first meeting, teams of two to four replacing benches of roughly 30, and a promised tenfold gain in cost, speed, or both—test whether AI-native systems integration can take share from incumbent SIs. Sikka previously co-founded Vianai Systems, which per the AI Market Watch index shows $190M total funding (coverage of ~5,000 companies, not a census); he left in April as that firm enters an undisclosed transaction, making Hang Ten a second-act software-delivery wedge rather than a model lab.
For builders and investors, the implication is capital and distribution flowing into production AI services, not proofs of concept—with Xora already pitching Temasek portfolio introductions and Sikka saying “very big companies” have already made acquisition approaches that Hang Ten declined. Watch whether Hobie-style reusable skills become durable IP versus labor compression, and whether eight-figure pursuits convert before hyperscaler and Big Consulting AI practices close the independence gap Hang Ten claims still exists.
