HexAI, formerly Ventris, to join Hex-Rays in acquisition valued at $30M-$35M

Hex-Rays, the Belgian developer of IDA Pro, is acquiring Israeli AI security startup HexAI, previously known as Ventris, in a deal valued at $30 million to $35 million, according to CTech. Founded in 2025 by Elon Gliksberg, the six-person company developed its platform without raising outside capital. All six employees will join Hex-Rays, which plans to expand the startup's operations in Israel and bring its reverse-engineering experts into platform development.

The deal puts agent orchestration and evaluation at the center of an established security-tool vendor's AI expansion. HexAI lets researchers build agent workflows, measure performance and validate findings across source code and binaries, including vulnerabilities, malware and backdoors. Its model-independent platform supports air-gapped environments. The company says customers have improved findings while reducing model costs, including through open models; the article provides no quantified results. The strategic value therefore rests on repeatable research workflows and deployment fit, with IDA Pro's reverse-engineering expertise providing a concrete integration opportunity.

For builders and investors, the diligence question is whether workflow controls deliver verifiable findings at a lower total cost in the customer's actual environment. HexAI's customer claims need validation against comparable research tasks, including finding accuracy and model spending. Its support for isolated systems also makes deployment requirements a practical purchasing consideration for sensitive security research. The acquisition offers a specific example of an incumbent buying an agent platform to extend an existing specialist toolset.
