Motif Powers Korea’s HAI Cultural-Heritage Image Generator
Motif Technologies supplied the image-generation model behind HAI, a cultural-heritage creation service developed with the Korea Heritage Service Foundation. HAI uses Motif-Image-6B Preview, a 6-billion-parameter model trained on heritage imagery and descriptions to generate historically grounded depictions of sites and traditions that general-purpose systems can distort or blend with other Asian visual cultures. The partners completed the data pipeline and model work in under five months, using synthetic data augmentation where source imagery lacked sufficient angles or metadata.
The project shows how a specialized image model can compete on domain fidelity rather than general visual breadth. For public-sector and cultural-content buyers, the relevant capability is not merely producing attractive images but reproducing identifiable architectural, ceremonial, and decorative details with fewer obvious errors. HAI has generated more than 100 images per weekday and permits commercial use, giving Motif a deployed reference case for a Korean model trained from the ground up on a curated domestic corpus.
For builders, the implication is that proprietary, well-described source material and expert review can be as important as model scale in specialized generative-media products. For investors, HAI is a practical validation path for Motif beyond model benchmarks, though the service remains a pilot and may end this year unless follow-on funding is secured. The key question is whether the collaboration converts into a durable procurement channel or remains a one-off public demonstration.
