OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a startup that converts prompts, notes, documents, or research into editable presentations. The acquisition closed earlier this year, though the announcement came a few months late, according to founder Ahmed Beshry on LinkedIn. Financial terms were not disclosed. The NextSlide team will now work on ChatGPT, continuing what Beshry described as a mission to make visual communication more accessible. Beshry previously co-founded Caper AI, a smart cart and cashier-less checkout company acquired by Instacart in 2021.
The acquisition signals OpenAI's push to expand ChatGPT's utility beyond text generation into visual productivity workflows, where presentation tools represent a high-frequency enterprise use case. Rather than building presentation capabilities from scratch, OpenAI is absorbing a team with product experience in turning unstructured input into polished, structured output.
