OpenAI adds Dots agents, Decisions API and an enterprise marketplace at DevDay
OpenAI announced Dots, a persistent agent product for automating work, alongside a Decisions API that uses its Luna model to return answers from a predefined set of options. Its DevDay announcements also included an enterprise marketplace featuring AI applications from Adobe, Salesforce, Harvey and Palo Alto Networks. OpenAI said ChatGPT users could sign in to services including Cognition, Notion and Vercel.
The combination positions OpenAI across agent execution and enterprise application distribution. Dots addresses ongoing work automation, while the Decisions API offers a constrained response format for workflows that require a choice among specified outcomes. The marketplace adds a route for other vendors to reach enterprise customers through OpenAI's ecosystem. In the agent market, this raises the question of whether durable value sits in standalone orchestration products or in platforms that combine models, agents and access to existing applications. The announcements establish that positioning, but provide no evidence here of adoption or production reliability.
For builders, the concrete implication is to evaluate these offerings separately: test whether persistent automation completes a workflow reliably, whether predefined answers are accurate, and whether marketplace access creates useful customer reach. A restricted answer set does not by itself establish decision quality. Investors should likewise distinguish product breadth from demonstrated enterprise demand; partner participation establishes an ecosystem roster, while repeat usage and workflow outcomes would be stronger evidence of a defensible business.
