Sarvam AI, the Indian AI unicorn, unveiled Sarvam Code at its Epoch 2026 conference, a coding agent designed for engineering teams. The agent breaks coding workflows into three specialized sub-agents — a planner, a worker, and a verifier — aiming to address the reliability gap in open-source models for determining task completion. In benchmarks using Terminal-Bench 2.1, Sarvam Code solved tasks at roughly $2 per solved task, compared to $4.10 to $27.80 for Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex. The startup also said it does not bill for retries or dead ends, and the agent is rolling out in beta under the company's Indus platform with a unified credit system.

The company separately announced an inference platform serving open-source models on India-hosted Blackwell GPU infrastructure, deepening its bet on domestic compute sovereignty as a competitive advantage for enterprise adoption in regulated sectors.
