Town raises $108M as its workplace AI assistants gain shared workflows

Town, a San Francisco startup founded by former Plaid CTO Jean-Denis Greze, announced a $108 million Series B on October 19 at a unicorn valuation. Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures co-led the round, with Andreessen Horowitz, Serena Ventures, and First Round Capital also participating. The two-year-old company launched publicly four months ago and says it reached millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue within weeks. It has raised at least $160 million, including a $55 million Series A announced in June.

Town competes in the crowded enterprise-agent market by giving each employee an assistant called a Townie connected to email, calendars, and other work systems. Townies can exchange approved information and now work with customers and others outside the company. Alongside the financing, Town introduced a shared workflow that automatically updates employees' assistants with new business information. The competitive question is whether coordination and shared context can make assistants more useful across a business than individual task support alone. The funding and reported revenue ramp show investor interest and early commercial traction; they do not establish durable adoption.

For builders and investors, the concrete diligence target is the shared workflow: does automatically distributing business updates reduce repeated work while keeping information access appropriate? Town's expansion into external interactions makes that question more consequential. Buyers should ask for evidence of time saved and reliable information sharing across employees and customers. The article supplies no retention or workflow-performance figures, leaving those outcomes unproven despite the valuation milestone.
