Zerops raises €1.7M seed to redesign cloud infrastructure for AI-driven development

Prague-based Zerops, a spin-off of hosting company vshosting.eu, has raised a €1.7 million ($2 million) Seed round led by Gi21 Capital. The company is building a unified platform-as-a-service that eliminates the gap between development and production environments, a longstanding pain point that the rise of AI coding agents is now exacerbating. The funding will be used to expand data center infrastructure into the US and Asia, including a new facility in Singapore, grow the team, and accelerate product development.

This is a pattern we have seen before: infrastructure startups addressing the friction between AI-generated code and production deployment. However, Zerops is positioned at a specific fault line in the AI developer-tools substrate. As AI coding assistants like Claude, Codex, and Gemini generate an increasing share of application code, the mismatch between sandboxed development environments and real-world infrastructure causes up to 45% of developers to spend more time debugging AI output than writing code themselves. Zerops argues that identical environments from development through production — what it calls "no environment tiers" — can make AI-generated code production-ready on first deploy, a claim that updates the open debate around how much abstraction is optimal for AI-augmented development workflows.

The company owns its full infrastructure stack, running full Linux containers across European and US data centers, with 15+ built-in services. This go-to-market approach echoes the "vertical integration" thesis in AI infrastructure economics: owning the stack creates cost advantages and predictability. The seed round is small relative to the infrastructure category, but the investor thesis from Gi21 Capital — that rising cloud costs and the shift from millions of developers to millions of developers working alongside AI agents creates an inflection point — aligns with the structural forces reshaping the PaaS layer. The real test will be whether Zerops can attract developer adoption against established platforms and whether its unified-environment claim holds at enterprise scale.
